Artist's Statement:
Moving between traditional art mediums and photographic art as a means of
creative expression, I find they serve to enhance each other. All utilize
compositional skills, form, design, lighting, color, mood, and the artist's
interpretation in sharing the moment. I attempt to take the viewer of my art
and photography that step beyond the ordinary past the medium itself,
to be drawn into an emotional experience with the art piece.
About the Artist:
Barbara Luzzadder utilizes both her camera and watercolors to create her art,
moving easily between the two mediums. A Northern Californian, she was raised
on a ranch near Orland. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Business
from CSU Chico, Barbara moved to Red Bluff with her husband and while her children
were young began taking mixed media art classes from Artist, instructor Robert
Ellis.
Her artistic expression later turned to photography while working on her Master
of Arts in Education, part of which was writing and illustrating poetry for
children.
Barbara's art and photography reflects her interest and appreciation of nature
and local history. "Our area has so many scenic landscapes and historical structures
to capture and record." Her art and photography have earned local, regional, state,
national, and international awards and recognition. Four of her watercolors were
recently selected and published on the covers of the Delta Kappa Gamma International
Society's quarterly magazine.
